DansGuardian works without you needing to add a blacklist, as "It filters the actual content of pages based on many methods including phrase matching, PICS filtering and URL filtering. It does not purely filter based on a banned list of sites like lesser totally commercial filters" to quote Daniel Barron.

There are a number of sources for blacklists, some managed, some produced automatically by dumb robots. The squidGuard project provides a free, regularly updated blacklist created by dumb robot, available from here http://www.squidguard.org/blacklist/ DansGuardian now provides a managed blacklist service, available from http://blacklist.dansguardian.org/ and paid for by donation.

I choose to use the SquidGuard Blacklists, so my script will download the Blacklists from my server @ http://blacklistz.dageek.co.uk that have been downloaded from the SquidGuard FTP Server.
